Go to the West Michigan Fishing Report to see what’s happening on our other area streams… “steelhead, trout, pike and carp… it’s all good”, updated on May 16, 2010.

The trout fishing on the Pm has been good lately with lots of bug activity on warm days and a good streamer bit on cold and cloudy days.  Don’t forget about the alevin and fry patterns at this time of the year.  There are gobs of salmon fry in the river now and the freshly hatched steelhead will be popping out soon.

Fish the alevin and fry patterns downstream around cover and drops or behind a larger streamer on a sink-tip.  Watch as your favorite trout streamer is out fished 10 to 1 by the fry trailing a foot or two behind.

Pere Marquette Lake and other area river mouths have shown good fishing for pike and other species like walleye, carp, drum and plan on getting into quite a few smallmouth as well, though remember that they are still out of season.  When around the river mouths and piers you always have an exciting chance at a salmon, steelhead or lake run brown.
