Fish big and bright in dirty water — it they can’t see it, they won’t bite it.
The biggest trouble in dirty water is finding fish, often it is a good bite if you can locate fish. If the river is flowing with sand and debris fish will often move into the slack, shallow areas to find refuge from the sand blasting. Take a look for yourself, the big holding holes that are prime in normal conditions become a “washing machine” of mud, leaves, sticks and other debris in high water. Look for slack areas, with less debris near these prime spots.
While even a small river like the PM becomes huge with holding water in high and dirty conditions, you can still find patterns.
Another note of caution. These high water events are when drift boats get sunk!
