PM River fishing report for May 8th, 2009

Water Conditions —Perfect.  Temps around 50. 

Fishing Conditions — The Steelhead fishing is still good but spotty.  The trout fishing has been good due to the perfect water conditions.  Hatches include tiny black stoneflies, lots of small caddis that probably include little black caddis, green caddis and tan caddis and Hendrickson and blue wing olive mayflies… the gray drake mayflies should be here soon.  It should also be mentioned that there are clouds of salmon fry in the river, I don’t remember ever seeing more of them.  This weeks report by Kevin Morlock

Brandon Butlers World Record Certificate

Yes, Brandon Butler of Driftwood Outdoors now has the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame, Fly Fishing Catch and Release World Record dogfish or bowfin.  Brandon caught his record while fishing with me on Pere Marquette Lake on 4/11/2009, the bowfin was 30”.  Click here to go to our April fishing report that has another picture and more info on the now World Record.
