Clouds and rain make for great steelhead fishing on the Pere Marquette River
Pere Marquette fishing report provided by Indigo Guide Service
Fishing Report, Pere Marquette River Michigan for April 21st, 2009
Water Conditions — Normal & clear. Temps 40’s.
Fishing Conditions — The fishing is still consistent, with a big push of fresh fish entering the system. The clear water and blue skies made for a tough bite over the weekend but with the clouds and rain the fishing turned 180 degrees. Dreary today and the forecast is for rain the next few days. Variations of peach & white eggs have still been fishing well, scud and shrimp patterns have also been taking fish. Other top choices have been alvin & fry (clouds of salmon fry around) patterns and some big stuff like Morlock’s UV Rabbits, also swinging large streamers like Martinez’s Tequila Worm and Green Pimp. The trout have been getting active with the warmer water, some nice fish have been chasing streamers and taking black stonefly dries when temps are right.
Please catch and release -Steve Martinez
