World Record Bowfin. Morlock’s UV Rabbit.
Pere Marquette River fishing report provided by Indigo Guide Service, Walhalla, Michigan
Pere Marquette fly fishing report for April 13th, 2009
Water Conditions — Low & clear… please send rain. Temps around 40.
Fishing Conditions — The fishing is still consistent but on a decline. Dreary today and the forecast is for rain the next few days, this should bring in a new batch of fresh fish. Peach and white eggs have been a top producer, tied in variations such as standard egg yarn nukes, estaz eggs and Ice Dub UV eggs with a white veil. Other top patterns have been tiny black stoneflies, alvin & fry patterns and some big stuff like Morlock’s UV Rabbits for when the fish are really on the bite. The trout have been getting active with the warmer water, some nice fish have been rising to black stones in the afternoons.
Possible fly rod world record bowfin (dog fish) caught and released by Brandon Butler on 4/11/09. Possibly the ugliest fish I’ve ever had in my boat. The fish is big enough to be the record but we may not have had our ducks in a row… we weren’t planning on a world record.
