Pere Marquette River Fishing Report for February 16th, 2009

Water Conditions — High\slight stain, temps in low to mid 30’s

Launch Conditions— M-37, greens cottage, Gleason’s, Rainbow Rapids and Upper Branch landings are all plowed and open.

Fishing Conditions —Before the high water the  upper river was in good shape, with people hooking fish below M-37.  Standard nuke eggs in #6-#8 and nymphs in size #10 have been working best.  The river down to Upper Branch is open and clear of  ice with fishing slow for steelhead though a few browns were being caught.  Upper Branch to Walhalla should be in good shape by mid to late week, though Walhalla landing is still not open.  With spring just around the corner fishing should get progressively better.

    Please: catch and release
