West Michigan fishing report for the Pere Marquette River for June 6th, 2008
Water Conditions — Normal level with a light stain
Fishing Conditions — The dry-fly fishing has been fantastic lately with gray drakes taking the cake. Hatches have been great, with the most bugs coming off that I have ever seen. Still some hendies and sulphurs around but the fish are paying little or no attention to them now that the drakes are in full swing. Wake (mouse) flies after dark have been producing very well all over the river corridor. After the hexs most of the wake fishing should be best in the upper stretches. Yes you heard right, hexs — they are just around the corner. With the magnitude of the hatches so far I’m really excited about the next couple of months. I’ll be out every night and you’ll hear it the next day when I see that first hex.
GOOD LUCK OUT THERE!! — JORY DIRKSE
